Bristol and West 7 – 2 Rascals (West Wilts)

The 1’s first game of the summer league saw 3 debuts for youngsters at 16yrs of age or just under/over.

Coach Dave Gardner intends to give youngsters that have progressed from the clubs youth section opportunities without hopefully sacrificing points and keeping the balance of high tempo and positive hockey.

Right from the start the speed of the game had the visitors struggling, Grogan, Williams and Moore completely dominating the midfield, it was a feature that would remain for all of the match regardless of the personnel.

The defending unit had Tom Bryant starting his first game at left back and he had a fine debut, looking solid and using the ball well. With a large squad on hand Bristol and West were able to ring the changes, Lawrence Cook adjusted to the pace and showed many fine touches as well as tracking back and using the ball with great maturity. Hodgy varying from midfield or attack chipped in with 2 goals and JC 3 amongst others.

In goal when called upon Justin also had a fine debut and the outlook for all 3 and the first team looks very promising.
