Avon Junior League – Under 13 Finals day

2009/2010 Season Under 13 Squad
The whole squad of Under 13s players thrilled and impressed everybody (parents, supporters, and umpires) with their team play and individual skills, winning all three pool games to qualify for the final at top of the table; a feat that included a 2-1 win over Bath Buccs, courtesy of good finishing and good goal-keeping; then a 6-0 win over North Somerset and finally a 3-1 win over Chippenham.
The final (also against Bath Buccs) was a very good game with Bristol & West first taking the lead, then letting Buccs back into the game (although it took two extremely well taken strikes to beat the tournament’s best Goalkeeper Will Stabb) and then thrillingly Bristol & West equalised to go into half time all square at 2-2.
The second half was very tense with most chances going to Buccs as they pressed for a goal. However, Bristol & West also had chances and the game could have gone either way.
The final whistle brought about the heartbreak of penalties, and Buccs clearly had the greater experience winning 4-2.
Very well done boys; it was a good squad effort. A fine group of players, Bristol & West finished with the Tournament’s best Goalkeeper (Will Stabb) & top goal scorer (Joe Cook) – well done to both of you, and to all the others who also made their important contributions.
