Bristol and West HC: Club Day 2011
Bristol & West HC Under 14s during 2010/2011 season
Dave Gardner and Mike Wingent proudly show off their 2010 Divisional 50+ winners gold medals.
The whole squad of Under 13s players thrilled and impressed everybody (parents, supporters, and umpires) with their team play and individual skills at the Avon Under 13s Finals Day.
Great 4-4 draw for the 1st team, scoring from 3 of their 4 short corners against a very strong West Wilts side.
Our 5ths team beat our 6ths 4-0 putting them into 3rd place in the league. The 6th are unfortunately without a win so far and are left at the foot of the table.
The 7ths had a strong game but eventually went down 2-1 to Old Bristolians.
Last seasons Club and 1s top scorer Matt Gardner has enjoyed a successful hockey season in Perth , Australia. He has continued to score goals and is one of the top scorers in Western Australia in a season which has just finished. Our Bristol and West Young Player of the Year also scored his sides golden goal in extra time to win the Cup Final in the National Stadium in front of hundreds of spectators.
Our newly formed Masters 50+ team played a valiant game eventually loosing 4-1 against Isca who were obviously a very well drilled unit that have played together for some time. Our 50+ Masters now progress to the plate competition.
A great 5-2 victory for the 1st team at home to East Devon taking the team to the top of the table in Prem 3.
Tough game for the 3rds eventually going down to a strong Old Bristolian side 4-1.
Great match for our 5th team eventually beating a determined and experienced Westbury side 2-1.
Training for the 1st and 2nds are held every Monday evening at Bradley Stoke Community School with additional specialist coaches attending throughout the season. For the rest of the Club training is at Colston School on Wednesday evenings from 18:45 to 20:45.
The second annual club day proved just as successful as the first one with over 60 members attending on the first Saturday of the new season!
The masters team (formally called the veterans!) took part in the Westbury tournament finishing runners-up to West Wilts (who they actually beat!).
Bristol and West joined forces with ladies side Hanham to enjoy a gentle cruise up the river Avon. The Booze Cruise was good fun, it started at 4pm and finished at 1am!! Apparently a good time was had by all.
Still waiting for the new kit to arrive Bristol and West 'A' took on Somerset Gryphons at Ridings School. Bristol and West ended up the eventual winners 5 - 2.
This was the first time that the newly formed Bristol and West Hockey Club fielded a competitive team...
