2nd Team Match Reports

2s hang on against OBs

The 2s ground out a 4-3 win against a determined OB's side, agaun showing some really good fighting spirit andputting in another excellent second half display.

We went 1-0 up following a good strike from Tom Seager, but after our good start found ourselves 2-1 down at half-time following a couple of good goals from OB's short corners.

After the break we really pushed on and put OBs under a lot of pressure and were unlucky to see a goal disallowed. Andy Platts pulled us level, only for us to slip behind once again. But after a foot on the line Ben McHardy calmly slotted home the resultnt penalty flick, and then sealed the win with a good flick from a short corner. We dug in, soaked up the OBs attacks and held on for the win, after OBs also had a goal disallowed for a foul in the build up.

Another good performance this time ending with a deserved win.

MoM - Phil Brown

DoD - Andy McKay

Another fight back against top of the league

The 2s found themselves 2-0 down at half time (again) against top of the league Weston-Super-Mare, but another second half resurgence saw the game finish with Bristol & West walking away with a 4-3 win.

A lovely finish from Edd Wood, followed by a dive that Tom Daley would have been proud of (but  his mother classed as shameful) saw Weston reduced to 10, and changed the dynamic of the game. We battled to lead 3-2 with goals from Phil Brown and Ali Hales, before being pegged back again. A sweet strike from Jake Seager from a late short sealed our first win of the season.

It was a great fight back again today, and every man on the pitch gave 100% in the second half. A real credit to the club!

MoM - Jake Seager

DoD - Tom Daley

2-2 vs Westbury A

A tough game at Westbury ended in  2=2 draw.
The umpires enjoyed thier green cards.  Rich Johnston picking up a pair, Simon and Ric Meal getting one.
Our first goal was well worked and in direct response to a Westbury scrapy goal.
Stu Banks picked up our next goal in another rather scrap way... He might say different.
With minutes to go the umpire awarded a penalty stroke for a rather dodgy foul. They scored it, just, hard luck AD
MOM was AD very closely beat Stu Banks
DOD was Tom Seager for not turning up do to a hangover

2s fight back against Yate A

The 2nds rallied well in their first league game of the season, coming from 2-0 down to eventually draw 3-3 with Yate A. It was a poor first half and we found ourselves 2 goals behind, with a mountain to climb. But after the break the team began to play some lovely hockey and fought back to lead 3-2, before conceding an unfortunate short corner which Yate tucked away (with the help of a few B&W feet). We can take a lot of heart from the second half performance, and hopefully carry that forward into next week.

Goal scorers: Mike Wingent, Andy Platts, Andy McKay

Man of the match: Matt Sullivan

Dick of the day: Stu Banks
