Bristol & West
Men's/Open
Men's Club Captain
Andrew Mackay
Bristol & West HC has 6 men’s teams competing in the West leagues, with our Men’s 1st XI achieving promotion in 2023 to the West Men’s Premier League and we are ambitiously seeking to continue to seek promotions across the Men’s club this season.
The club also prides itself on being a welcoming and positive environment which allows us to offer to hockey to players of all abilities, with members getting to enjoy both competitive and social sides of the sport.
As well as welcoming new players, we continue to seek to help our junior members to transition into the world of senior hockey and further develop their skill and abilities so their potential can be maximised.
We operate our Men’s training across two sessions. On Tuesday nights our 1st, 2nd and 3rd teams enjoy their high intensity training session with our lead coaching team, as we hope to continue our progress through the West League. Our Thursday night sessions host the remaining teams in the club, as well as our promising juniors and any “new-to-hockey” players wishing to get involved.
Our goal is to ensure that all they are looking for from hockey, no matter their previous experience. We strike the balance between the social side of the game with those who wish to compete to the highest level that they can.
This means that there is a place for everyone in our club, so please get in touch using our Contact us page and we will let you know how to get involved.
Meet The Teams

Men's 1st Team
Captains: Ed

Leading the 1st team this season is a real privilege. Since our promotion in 2023, the aim has been simple: keep pushing higher while never losing the values that got us here.
We train hard, we play hard, and we back each other every step of the way. This is a squad built on trust, with players who have earned their place through commitment on and off the pitch.
Whatever this season brings, we will take it on together.
If you fancy testing yourself at this level, come and say hello, we are always happy to welcome new faces who share our ambition.

Men's 3rd Team
Captain: Harrison

Taking on the captaincy of the 3rd team this year, I could not be prouder of this group. We sit right in the middle of the club, bridging our more experienced players with those still finding their feet in men's hockey.
Concorde Division 1 is a competitive league and we intend to make our mark in it. More than results though, this team is about togetherness. We train hard, support each other through the ups and downs of a season, and always make time for a laugh along the way.
New players are welcome any time. Whether you are coming back to hockey after a break or just starting out, you will find a home with us.

The upcoming hockey season is filled with anticipation and excitement. It's a time for teamwork and dedication, where we'll grow as players and face tough competition. We aim for victory, but we also value the unity and support of our teammates, friends, and fans.
With passion and energy, we'll set and achieve our goals while playing with sportsmanship and earning the admiration of those around us. Most importantly, we'll have fun and savour every moment on the field.

Corcorde Division 2

Men's 5th Team
Captain: Simon

A new season brings with it new challenges. After a season of up and down results and plenty of personnel changes due to injuries, our aim this season is to create a real team atmosphere.
With a core of strong and experienced players, I hope the 5’s will be a great platform for younger players to develop and learn from us. I would love to see some of these players progressing to the higher teams if in future years.
If we have one goal for this season it’s that we all play for one another and understand that we are stronger as a whole rather than as individuals. As well as on the pitch, We hope to carry a strong team ethos off the pitch where we can support one another even more so in these tricky times.

I am pleased to be given the opportunity to lead the Men’s 6’s this year.
Our squad is a mixture of more senior players, and younger players taking their first steps into the world of men’s hockey. Our aims will continue to be to compete against the teams in our league, introduce the younger players to competitive team hockey whilst maintaining a supportive team spirit. Our motto remains, “Win or lose: pride and a pint!”.
