Bristol & West Jaspers

Women

Women's Club Captain

Eloise Wyke

Our women’s side of the club continues to grow in strength, spirit, and numbers. We’re proud to run four fully established women's teams, offering competitive league hockey at a range of levels so every player - whether new to hockey or highly experienced - can find the right place to thrive.

A huge part of our success comes from the way we develop and welcome players. We’re continually expanding, bringing talented juniors from our Badgers team up through the ranks, while attracting new members who are looking for a friendly club with regular socials to call home. The energy across the section is fantastic and it’s brilliant to see so many players progressing and enjoying their hockey.

Our Wednesday training sessions cater for all abilities, with inclusive, structured coaching designed to challenge and support every player. For those wanting extra pitch time, we also offer mixed sessions on Thursday evenings, giving members even more opportunity to practise skills and build confidence. We’re incredibly lucky to have a dedicated coaching team, made up of players from our men’s leagues. Their experience, enthusiasm, and commitment shape sessions that work for everyone, from complete beginners and juniors right through to our most skillful senior players.

I joined the club almost 10 years ago, having not played since my school days, and I have loved being part of our hockey community. I was captain of the Women's second team for three years and helped to establish our mixed team which is part of a local Bristol mixed league. Whether you’re looking to return to hockey, try something new, or push yourself at a competitive level, there’s a place for you here.

Our results have continued to improve over the last few years and we are hoping to continue the trend this season!

We have dual captains this year and we are both very motivated to continue our successes moving the whole club up  the leagues. We enjoy meeting members across the club at training nights, including the pub afterwards!

We are a friendly and competitive team that are enjoying playing hockey as a squad. We are always looking for new players to join all our ladies teams, so please contact us and come down to training to meet us all!

Our field hockey team is a tight-knit group of around 15 dedicated players, spanning a wide age range from 16 to 50. This diversity in age brings a unique blend of experience and youthful enthusiasm to our team, making us a formidable force on the field.

But it's not all about the game for us. We believe in the importance of camaraderie and the joy of playing together. Our team spirit is infectious, and we always make sure to keep the atmosphere light and fun both on and off the field. Whether it's celebrating a hard-fought victory or sharing a laugh during practice, our team bonds go beyond the game.

So, if you're looking to join a passionate and welcoming field hockey team that balances competitiveness with a sense of community and fun, look no further. We're eager to welcome new members into our hockey family as we continue our journey towards future success and unforgettable moments together.

Bristol & West Jaspers 3s is a friendly yet competitive team. We came second in last year’s league and have our eyes firmly set on promotion this season. Enthusiasm and positivity is at the heart of our team, and we focus on the little wins as well as match results.

We train weekly on Wednesday evenings with the rest of the ladies’ side of the club, where we also offer opportunities to develop basic skills and formation knowledge.

The team offers a positive environment for those looking to start their hockey career or ease back into it, so if you’re considering giving hockey a go, speak with our club captain and come along to the next training session!

Bristol & West Jaspers 4s are in our sixth year with a fantastic squad of all ages and abilities.

Having played as a development team for a few years (helping juniors transition to senior hockey and welcoming returning players), 2025/26 was our first competitive league season. We had our most successful year yet, finishing joint top on points and second on goal difference thanks to great coaches, strong training attendance, and excellent teamwork.

I fell back in love with the sport when, as a junior parent, I was encouraged to give it a go, wooden stick and all! If I can return after 25 years, anyone can. Eight years later, and with a new stick, I am proud to captain this team.

If you want to get back into hockey, meet great people, and have fun while doing your best, don't delay and bring your stick along and have a play!
