3s stutter at home to Whitchurch B

Occasionally you lose and it doesn’t feel right – today was one of those days as we went down 3-0 at home to Whitchurch B. After the first 10-15 minutes there looked like there could only be one winner but you need to convert pressure into goals, which we didn’t do. Whitchurch clawed their way back into the match and then started creating chances, with Duncan coming to the rescue more than once. Before we knew it we were 2-0 down despite having had some good chances and a few short corners. The first goal after half-time was crucial and unfortunately for us it was scored in the wrong end. A formation change to give an extra striker resulted in chance after chance but the keeper was either up to it or their goal was too narrow. Conversion of one of several gilt-edged chances in the last 15 minutes would have created an interesting end but it wasn’t to be. Several Man-of-the-Match votes went to Duncan and Winge but the winner for another sterling performance in midfield was Ross.
