Bristol & West Jaspers 2 [0-1] Yate 3

Report by Tabby Moreton

A very promising start to the season this weekend for the Bristol and West Jaspers 2s in our match against Yate, despite a 1-0 loss.

The first half of the game saw us start strong and begin to work well together as a team.

After some fantastic interceptions in our defending half, and runs down the wings, we were able to break through their players and create several opportunities in the D, including multiple short corners. There were some very close shots on goal, but we were battling against impressive goal keeping skills from the opposition. By half-time, the score was 1-0 to Yate, and we were determined to try and bring it back.

Coming into the second half, there was some great perseverance both from our attackers and defenders, and our fitness benefited us with keeping possession of the ball. Defence worked extremely hard to prevent any further opportunities for the opposition to score and the attackers continued to be awarded short corner opportunities.

The whistle blew and the final score remained at 1-0 to Yate. Moving forward, it will be vital that we now dedicate some training towards confidence in the D and getting those goals.

Overall, this was still a very promising start for the Bristol and West Jasper 2s and we are looking forward to developing our game this season.
