The start of the 2022-2023 season for Bristol Hockey Club brought a delightful touch of sunshine to the tail end of the British summer. This hockey-filled weekend saw our Club Day on Saturday, followed by a mixed tournament, and a challenging women's tournament on Sunday. These gatherings not only displayed our dedication but also underscored the enduring spirit of Bristol Hockey Club.
Club Day
The weekend's excitement continued on Sunday as our mixed team participated in a challenging 7-a-side hockey tournament hosted by Keynsham at Wellsway School. The day's heat surpassed that of Saturday, yet o2ur club entered two teams, both of which performed exceptionally well. Demonstrating their skills and teamwork, our teams secured first and second place. This achievement is a testament to the dedication and talent within our club. Congratulations to all who took part and a huge thanks to all those who contributed to the event's organisation, including the umpires, and a special appreciation to our BBQ team and "Club Baker" Polly for providing some much needed fuel through the day! Club Day showcased the strong spirit of our club, and we can look forward to an exciting season for Bristol & West.
Mixed Tournament
The weekend's excitement continued on Sunday as our mixed team participated in a challenging 7-a-side hockey tournament hosted by Keynsham at Wellsway School. Our club entered two teams, both of which performed exceptionally well. Demonstrating our trademark B&W mixed spirit, our teams secured first and second place. Congratulations to all who took part in retaining our trophy from last year!
Women's Tournament
On the other side of Bristol, in Clifton, our women's 1st team engaged in a full day tournament of 11-a-side games against some of the region's top teams. The searing heat presented a considerable challenge, yet our team faced up to the challenge. Despite formidable opponents, they held their own in every game played, securing a fistful of well-earned draws and improving throughout the day as we prepare for a tough season ahead.
These two days epitomised the essence of Bristol and West Hockey Club - a strong sense of community, unwavering commitment, and a shared passion for the sport. Thanks to all members for making it such a fun and memorable weekend!
