Bristol & West Jaspers 2s [2-0] South Glos 2s - 31/10/20
A cracking second match of the season for B&W 2s, despite the torrential rain. Playing on home ground, we were working much better as a squad and put the pressure on South Gloucester 2s from the onset.
The first half saw some great runs up the line and into our opposition’s D, where we were awarded numerous short corners and a penalty flick taken by Nat, which was saved by the South Gloucester 2s goalie. Our first goal came from a beautifully converted short corner, injected by Ellie, who received the pass back from top D and swept it straight across the goal for Bellsy to hit past the goalie.
After an insightful team talk at half-time by captain Ellie and armed with some useful tips from our coach, we went out to play a much better 2nd half. Our team confidently kept possession of the ball, moving it around the back and finding great spaces through channels and into the D, where we continued to gain short corners. Despite several attempted shots on goal, the opposition defence put up a good fight and we finished the match with a 2-0 lead. Claire "Dibbs" Dibble scored our second goal with a straight strike from the top right of the D from another short corner.
Everyone gave it their absolute all and we finished the match exhausted and sodden but thrilled to have achieved our first win of the season.
