BAWJ 3s Wrap Up 2021 With Win

4th December 2021

Bristol & West Jaspers 3 [5-2] Old Bristolians 5

Report by Sally Worfolk

The Bristol and West Jaspers 3s team have finished the first half of the season with a 5-2 win against OBs 5s! This final match was played at the Mangotsfield pitch in the chilly and windy weather of Saturday morning.

The goalkeeper position was tentatively covered by Sally, usually a centre back. As usual, the 3s started with high energy and the first half passed quickly with goals from Hannah, Emilia and Molly (all in open play), with only one goal conceded.

Halftime ended up being slightly longer than planned as OBs needed to call for medical help for a player as a precautionary measure. The 3s used this time to get some much needed goal keeping practice in!

The second half resumed before we got too cold and the team scored another 2 goals. A second from forward Hannah made it four before a final goal from Olivia Gold (the 3s new injector) from a short corner: the first 3s goal from a centre back this season, hopefully not the last!

The slippery pitch has grazed a few knees - Aymie has lost her title of 'regular faller' to Beth this season - but overall the 3s have reached the Christmas break without any major injuries ... amazingly!

This result puts the 3s third in the league at the halfway point, behind the formidable Thornbury 1s team and the university first team UWE 1s. Excellent start of the season girls! Let’s keep it up!

Goals: Hannah Biggs (2), Emilia Egitto, Molly Green, Olivia Gold

Player of the match: Sally Worfolk
