Gameweek Roundup 26th November

Loads of green on the graphic this week shows how Bristol & West has been progressing though the season. As is becoming customary, we headline the week with victories for our Men's and Women's 1st teams - who both sit one point from top spot. Inspired by an awesome win for the men's 4s before them, the victory of the day came courtesy of our Women's 3s, who took on the inbeaten table toppers and fought to a 4-3 victory to put themselves in the running for promotion. Catch up on all of the action below.

The Stats

Player of the week: Tom Bryant

Not as many points as Mrs Bryant last week but Tom Bryant takes it this week after a 9-1 victory over Cheltenham

Men's 1st Team

Bristol & West 1 [9-1] Cheltenham 2

Fresh from being defeated by our mixed XI last Sunday, Cheltenham had an even tougher task this week a they were welcomed to Mangotsfield to face our men's first team. Unfortunately for the away side, our 1s are flying this season and their form wasn't to be broken this week. Nine goals from six goal scorers were slotted past the Gloucestershire outfit with only one in reply. Just one point behind them, our 1s lads face the league leaders University of Bristol this Saturday with both teams looking to finish the year on top.

1s won 9-1 Goals: Tug x3 (Hatt bonus) Chip x2, Luke x1, Mouse x1, Ed x1, H x1

Assists: Luke 3, Tug 1, Chip 1, Jonny 2, Ed 1, H 1

MVP: Luke

DoD: mouse for getting a green and giving the ball away leading to their goal👀

Def Bonus: Stumpy - solid

Women's 1st Team

Leominster 1 [0-2] Bristol & West Jaspers 1

Not to be outdone by the boys, our women's 1s also remain unbeaten this season as they once again challenge for promotion. They made the most of their long trek to Leominster last Saturday, bringing home the points with a 0-2 win.

Goals: Annie and Claudia 🥅

Assists: Annie and Amber 🏑

POTM: Toni 🤩

Men's 2nd Team

Cardiff Uni 2 [4-2] Bristol & West 2

A tricky fixture for the Men's 2s as they made the always difficult trip away to play Cardiff Uni. Despite having spells on top, the 2s failed to get into their rhythm and gave away too many cheap goals.

Goals: Luz & Todd

Assists: Todd & Neil

MOM: Doug

Women's 2nd Team

Bristol & West Jaspers 2 [1-5] Thornbury 1

2s came away with a grin today even though we didn’t win!! We lost 5-1 but rumour has it that we were Thornbury’s toughest competition yet 💪 Our whole team played a super impressive game and put up an amazing fight across the pitch 🌟

Goals: Tegan x1 🥅

POTM: Ellie

Votes for: Jennie, Liv, Smurph, Tegan and Dibbs 🎖

Keep up the amazing work ladies and we’ll be ready to smash them next year!

Huge thanks to Bernie for stepping in as captain 😃.

Men's 3rd Team

Bristol & West 3 [5-1] Sidmouth & Ottery 1

The 3s have seen mixed fortunes this season, but having picked up a 3rd win of the season, they've chiselled themselves a firm foothold in tough league, climbing to mid-table.

MoM: Kian

DoD: Ross (for not realising he was meant to be playing)

Defender of the Day: Patch

Goals: Kieran, Patch, Jack, Alex x2

Assists: Ben, Alex, Kieran

Women's 3rd Team

Bristol & West Jaspers 3 [4-3] Wick 3

Full time scenes at Fortress Mangotsfield!

3s played top of the league today, Wick 2s, who had come down from the 2s league. Wick had a goal difference of 32, and had won every match... BOOM they didn't see us coming and we WON 4 - 3 🥳😎

Goals: Frankie x1, Becca x2, Anna x1🥅

Assists: Aymie, Becca, Anna 🏑

POTM : Becca & Rach 🤩

Defender : Viv 💪

Men's 4th Team

Bristol & West 4 [6-2] TBB 6

4s had a fantastic win against an always tricky Bath Buccs side

Women's 4th Team

Old Bristolians 5 [6-2] Bristol & West Jaspers 4

The 4s played a very rainy game against Old Bs, losing 6-2.

Without a keeper and having borrowed 3 players from the opposition, there was definitely some great hockey played and as much as I hate to say it, the score definitely didn’t reflect the game! 😅

Goals: Emma & Steph 🥅

POTM: Steph 🏅

Men's 5th Team

Firebrands 4 [4-1] Bristol & West 5

Goal: Rob Ledger

Motm: Ben Swannell

Defender of day: Joe Pring

Men's 6th Team

Thornbury 1 [3-4] Bristol & West 6

First senior goals for two of our Badgers today, Joe MacMahon scored one and Barnaby Sheppard scoring TWICE. With Ed Faulkner showing them how it’s done to get the ball rolling today with our first.

A good win and a great day for the youngsters who impressed again.

Great to have Stewart Fraser back on the pitch, and we also welcomed David Margetts, Leo’s dad, who’s returning to the game after a long absence. Glad you rocked up in kit today David!

Goals: Ed, Joe, Barnaby x2

Assists: Ed, Stew Fraser, Higgy, Steve Mildren.

DoD: Don, for talking the umpire in to giving him a yellow with 60 seconds of the game to go 😂

Defender bonus: Leo.
