Gameweek Roundup - 4th March

More wins than losses and some welcome clean sheets, resulted in a successful outlook for the club over the weekend. It's with some satisfaction that I'm able to repeat the weekly reporting of our first teams' march towards unbeaten seasons, with two further wins for our men and women. Our men were able to grasp what has so far eluded the 17s game: a clean sheet in their 2-0 win. Our ladies were leading by a single goal at half-time and looked to be locked in a tight contest. But found another gear in the second half, blowing Redland away with a further 6 unanswered goals in their 7-0 victory.

Kicking off the weekend were our Women's 2s who recorded a 3rd clean sheet in succession (their 6th since December) to see of Knowle at home. Rounding off the day was a late game by our ladies' 3s who put 5 past Keynsham without reply to secure 3 wins from three for the girls, with 14 goals scored and 0 conceded.

Robbies have become a familiar foe for B&W this season, meeting them in 5 of our leagues. After our 1s dispatched them at midday, our Men's 2s had a rare afternoon game against their 4s. Late arrivals and a slow start saw the lads 1-0 down again, but in what is becoming somewhat of a trademark, the 2s rallied to record a 2-2 draw, sharing the points to stay amongst the chasing pack in the table.

Mens 6s. We were the yin to the Ladies 1s yang. Lost 0-7. Good effort but up against top of the table Westbury who’ve won twice as many games as the next nearest team. Enough said. On to next week.

Vixens

Vixens had a tough game today, playing against a very skilled and talented Westberries team. The score didn’t reflect the effort that was seen in the game, and what was so great was seeing the improvement in play as the game progressed. Millie and I were really proud of you all - you fought hard and kept your spirits up ⭐️⭐️😊

Shout out to Niamh our goalie - player of the match as voted for by Westberries- there were some absolutely amazing saves today🏑🏑

Finally thanks to Rach, Oli and Dan and to all the parents / grandparents who supported the girls today. I hope it didn’t take too long for you to warm up !
