13th January 2024

Cardiff & Met 4 [1-5] Bristol & West 2

Report by Josh De Witt

Bristol and West continued their strong start to 2024 with a dominant display in Cardiff. An excellent team performance saw Bristol and West twos climb to fifth in the table and continue their unbeaten start in 2024.

Bristol and West began by prodding and probing at the Cardiff & Met defence, with particular success down their right hand side. The early dominance resulted in three short corners which didn’t result in any outcomes for the side in orange.

The away team found themselves a goal behind when a breakaway resulted in a short corner for the welsh team. A scrappy routine resulted in a scuffed shot beating the Bristol and West defence. Rallying back just before half-time Lusmore drew the game level with an excellent finish.

After the break Bristol and West cranked it up a notch, forcing Cardiff into defending deep in their 25. A good short corner delivery gave Lusmore the opportunity to make it 2-1 with a top corner finish.

The party started a few minutes later when another strike from a short corner hit a defenders foot on the line. VC Oli Nevin stepped up, and dispatched the resulting stroke into the Cardiff backboard. Parading on the astro, the big man Charlie G made it 4 with a wonderful finish putting the result beyond any reasonable doubt.

J Kinger finished the rout with a deflected top D finish that allowed Bristol and West to return over the bridge content with a score line that reflected their supreme performance.
