As the men's and women's teams at Bristol & West continue to grow, so has the demand for mixed hockey at the club. Following a successful campaign in 2021 where the Bristol & West Mixed Hockey Team recorded 4 wins from 4 games to top the table, more and more members have showed their interest. As a result we were able to enter two teams this season offering some casual hockey in a friendly environment to even more players and the opportunity to meet new people from across the club and share a cider in the sun (and a Sunday roast) after the game!
All games are played on Sundays through June and July at The Castle School in Thornbury.
The first fixture saw the two teams pitted against each other for the opportunity to race into the lead in the standings. But despite some healthy competition, this first fixture was all about the chance for the 28 players from across the club to get to know each other and to run off a few Saturday night hangovers!
That being said, some of the hockey on display was to be admired as players made connections across the pitch to string together some great passing moves which just showed the quality that we are cultivating throughout the club.
The result, a thoroughly enjoyable run out and a well deserved 3-1 win for the team in orange. With 8 remaining fixtures across both mixed teams, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved if you've not given your availability already.
