New Men's Performance Squad Coach Appointed

We're delighted to announce the appointment of Luke Hansford as the new Men's Performance Squad Coach. Luke's arrival further signals the progression and continued aspiration of our men's teams as we advance through the West Hockey League.

Luke is joining us after a successful season at the University of Bristol Hockey Club as a Performance Coach, contributing to their most successful season as a club in its history (top 2 finishes in 4/4 leagues). He has played in the England Hockey West Conference for both Oxford Hawks and the University of Bristol as a student but since some significant injuries he has turned his attention to coaching. At 26, he is now into his 7th season as a professional coach, including a year as a hockey professional at Bloxham School, leading the Individual Player Programme.

The qualities Luke will bring to Bristol and West is someone who leads with passion and clarity around how we play and who we are. The ambition Bristol and West has for its future makes Luke an excellent fit as he combines his own ambition with a team-first ethos and a strong knowledge of the game. You will catch him saying “score not draw” which gives a good indication into the style he will bring on the pitch and in training.
