Women's 2s Back to Winning Ways

6th November 2021

Bristol & West Jaspers 2s [5-0] Wotten-Under-Edge 3s

Report by Kirsty Skinner

In an important game against Wotton-Under-Edge, Bristol & West Jaspers 2s started sharply and left Wotton on the back foot. B&WJ struggled to convert their chances in the opening exchanges but the team in orange weren't to be denied. 20 minutes in, the returning Daisy Williams stepped up to convert a brilliantly worked team move, with Daisy knocking it in on the back post.

B&WJ pressed from the front and didn't give the Wotton defenders any time on the ball. A vital tackle from Kirsty Skinner at the edge of the D created a chance from nothing, as she slotted in a reverse stick shot, BANG 2-0!

The game was starting to look very one sided after the break and B&WJ kept pushing. They were playing their own game well, then after a quick switch in play Phoebe stepped up into a great position, slotting it into the back of the net to make it number 3!

Wotton kept strong, with their left back keeping them in the game. Then B&WJ were awarded a short corner. Captain Eloise took control and planned the “No. 4” routine practised in training many times and it payed off with Ellie smashing it in against the back board… 4-0!!!

Wotton created some chances, but Bernie made sure the Wotton forwards didn’t have a sniff of the goal. Defensively B&WJ looked unbeatable but could they keep this up?!

With quick thinking from the back and some perfectly timed 1-2 passes up the pitch, Phoebe played a ball to the wing where Niamh’s clever pass played Ella in along the baseline. A strong drive and direct pass made it easy for Kirsty to smash it in for 5-0! Overall it was a great team performance with lots of positives to take into next week.

Players of the Match: Daisy & Kirsty (and a worthy defensive mention for Bernie).
