Huge congratulations to our new Bristol & West Jaspers 4th team who proved a tough challenge for their opponents in their opening game.
On Saturday the newly formed 4s team headed to Coombe Dingle to make their debut. With no goalkeeper and only one substitute, we knew it was going to be a tough match but were determined not to let this intimidate us!
Some awesome defending from Eleanor, Jess, Anna and Georgina kept many of their attacks at bay, before one goal finally slipped through just before half time. After the break the team really upped the energy and some great runs from Polly, Jess, Izzy, Cat and Beth down the wings were unfortunate not to be rewarded with a goal.
Molly and Colette both had a stormer in Westberries’ D, but with what seemed like 4 goalkeepers on their team we still struggled to get one through. A quick ball caught us all unaware towards the end of the second half and we went 2-0 down, before a lovely 1-2-post short corner between Colette, Georgia and Beth saw us finally get a goal back.
Finally score 2-1, but that does not reflect the game and I’m certain with a goalkeeper we’d be unstoppable!
