For those of you playing at home this weekend I hope you will see a difference in the pitch. On Monday Verde Recreo carried out a day’s maintenance, which unfortunately had not been done for quite some time.
It was interesting to watch how they did it. The little John Deere tractor brushed up the pile while the ‘tank on wheels’ followed behind and took up the sand. This was then washed, filtered and put back down on the pitch and then brushed in again. They also carried out some repairs on some raised seams.
All this work was paid for by the Bristol & West HC. We are told that from now on, the school will reinstate a regular maintenance regime which should hopefully keep the pitch in good condition for a few more years.
